The story of Gladys and Ivan Neuman
Ivan Newman has five days to find evidence that the story of his sufferings in the Ravensbrück concentration camp, which he presented to the United States court, is true. He is desperate. He sends off a plea for help to an email address without a personal name. Lena Millinger works with protracted reorganization issues at a museum and is stuck in a crumbling marriage. They meet through the Internet on January 26, 1998. It is to become a meeting that will change their lives.
On May 7, 1998, they meet in real life, when Ivan comes to Sweden after 53 years to thank her. In front of Lena and filmmaker Ulf Södergren, he tells his story. ".... because there were no children in Ravensbrück".
Lena Millinger is a Master in Communications for Development and has worked with communication and marketing in both industrial and cultural environments. She has been staff newspaper editor and written countless talks and articles about people and memories in international contexts and produced exhibitions about the importance of preserving both difficult and good memories. Lena is deeply involved in what Ivan Newman calls archeology of memory, something she has the opportunity to indulge in as a pensioner.
