The prose on display here is absolutely fantastic, equally fantastic as the narrator. The stories themselves gets lifted by the rolling prose that invites you into harsh worlds where shit smeared walls and decapitated heads seem nigh on as commonplace as cracks in the pavement. This book draws you into the harsh worlds of Argentina in an overly alluring way. The only slight issues I have with the book and production. The ends of the stories often comes without warning, sometimes making a story feel incomplete. Coupled with the abrupt endings and the biggest gripe I have that is there is no breathing room from one story to the next, makes the stories unnecessarily swim together. One story done, then almost with the same breath the title of the next comes and here we go again. These gripes however are not big enough to detract from the book in anyway. A book that has assured me a new author on my radar. All I need to do now is learn Spanish so I can enjoy the book in the original language
