Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness

We’re going under the metaphorical scalpel today on Pretty Curious with Dr. Anthony Youn! We’re tackling everything from upper and lower eyelid surgery (or upper blephs & lower blephs as we refer to them in this episode) to the importance of diet and giving the body the opportunity to “autojuvenate” before going under the knife for substantial plastic surgery. We’re also talking about regional plastic surgery trends, intermittent fasting, and Dr. Youn’s newest book, Younger For Life.

Dr. Anthony Youn is a renowned plastic surgeon and expert in holistic approaches to beauty, emphasizing his motto "Autojuvenate Before You Operate." He advocates for achieving youthful looks through a combination of non-surgical methods. Dr. Youn has appeared on major TV shows like Live with Kelly and Mark, The Rachael Ray Show, and The Doctors, and has authored bestselling books, including Younger For Life, which offers holistic tips for looking younger without surgery. He hosts The Doctor Youn Show, a very popular health and beauty podcast, and has been named one of the top plastic surgeons in the U.S. by various prestigious publications. Dr. Youn graduated with honors from Kalamazoo College and Michigan State University, completing his plastic surgery training in Michigan and Beverly Hills before returning to his home state. PRETTY CURIOUS | What Should I Do To My Face? With Dr. Anthony Youn

Revenge, why do we want to get revenge so bad? And where does that urge come from? And how do we go from wanting to get revenge to being able to forgive someone or others? James Kimmel Jr., Yale lecturer and co-founder of the Yale Collaborative for Motive Studies, is on Getting Better this week to teach us just that. James gives us insight into the psychology of these complex emotions, the parts of the brain affected, and what research, studies and science shows us about forgiveness.

James Kimmel, Jr., JD, is a lecturer in psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine, the founder and co-director of the Yale Collaborative for Motive Control Studies, and a researcher, lawyer, and novelist who focuses on neuroscience, psychology, revenge, addiction, forgiveness, and violence. A breakthrough scholar and expert on revenge and forgiveness, he first identified compulsive revenge seeking as an addiction and first developed the behavioral addiction model of revenge and the brain disease model of revenge addiction as public health approaches for preventing and treating violence.
