General Analysis

ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK

"Going Postal," by Terry Pratchett, tells the story of Moist von Lipwig, a con man who is given a choice between execution or taking over the derelict Ankh-Morpork Post Office. Moist is forced to revitalize the Post Office, which is up against the modern communication system of the Grand Trunk clacks company. The book explores themes of redemption, the power of communication, and the clash between old and new technologies. Moist uses his cleverness to navigate the complexities of the Post Office, and the corrupt world he is forced to confront, developing a sense of responsibility and leadership along the way. The narrative is filled with Pratchett’s characteristic humor and social commentary. He starts out as a con man, but grows to care for the people he works with, and begins to believe in the importance of his position. His main goal becomes more than just surviving, but to help others and bring order to the Post Office.
