#1 My father and mother came to America from Germany in 1846, and settled in Fredericksburg, Texas. My father, Maurice Lehmann, died in 1864. My mother married Philip Buchmier in 1866. They secured a large tract of land on Squaw Creek, about twenty-five miles northwest of Fredericksburg.
#2 The Indians took me and my brother, Willie, captive. We were brought to a rock fence, where the Indians beat us and left us naked. We were then brought to a rock fence near Loyal Valley, where the Indians took horses from the ranch. We were taken to the Llano River, where we were left with the horses.
#3 I was taken captive by the Indians, and while I was with them, they made me eat the soured milk of a dead cow. I was disgusted and sick at the stomach. I would not eat the filth, but Carnoviste made me swallow it down.
