When Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson only by chance escape an arson attack at the Waldorf Hotel, they are glad to have found new lodgings in the apartment of Hampton Bank. Director Benjamin Hampton, who still feels indebted to Holmes, is pleased that both are now apparently safe from the long arm of retribution by the New York Police.
