My first book by Karin Slaughter and it was a truly thought-provoking and jaw-dropping thriller.  A unique plot wherein a prisoner who is convicted of serial killing claims innocence during a riot murder inquiry in the prison and instead provides some impressions of similar carnages, while he is still in prison. The state police reexamine the case files and then acknowledge that there were other victims with a similar modus operandi whose deaths have rocked the state since the first murder took place almost a decade back.  The protagonist along with his colleague and girlfriend begins their meticulous examination and investigation into the deaths of women with a similar MO. The plot is narrated in two time zones and is a fast-paced one that is intense and gripping. Being my first book in the series of Will Trent & Grand County, it was a while before I could understand the evolvement of various characters. However, it could be read as a stand-alone. Would recommend to all mystery lovers

It took time to figure out the two time-lines. Grisly and gripping
