Well I always wanted to read this book because the cover intimidated me and the instagram posts were all about this book. Sadly we all don't have the opportunity to read the books we want but storytel gave me an opportunity to listen to it and I loved it. It was deep, intriguing, powerful and moving.

En mycket fin liten bok, så mycket känsla i få utvalda ord. Skönt språk och flöde. Jag har verkligen gillat all prosalyrik (riktad till unga) som jag har läst, så även denna gång. Jag ser fram emot att läsa mer av Acevedo!

This was incredible. Mesmerizing prose interspersed with powerful poetry. A book on being brown, on being a woman, on being raised under a religion that seems suffocating rather than liberating - a must read if you too relate to any or all of those experiences.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT 😍😍😍😍There is no words to express my love for this book. It was so raw, so sweet and so bitter to taste. It was beautiful and heartwrenching to listen to. This is a perfect example of how a beautiful audiobook can be. The prose, the poetry and the magic it held was so beautiful. I fell in love with this book half way through. The authors true feelings are communicated seamlessly through her narration. Loved it....all time favourite book & author.I just have to read all of her backlist titles 🥰🥰

MUST READ! For youths and adults alike. Acevedo is superb in describing the twists and turns of growing up in a world that seemingly isn’t made for you. The book offers a narrative which much too often is overlooked and denied it’s rightful place in modern literature. Whilst the main character Xiomara finds her voice, the story gives a voice to so many unheard women. Truly everyone can relate to this story and I heartily recommend it!
