3.5/5This book was one of my most anticipated releases of the year but I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I can't pinpoint a particular thing that I didn't like. Maybe I listened it in the form of an audiobook and that didn't work. So, we have a series of seemingly unrelated murders which actually resemble murders in famous mystery novels, an FBI agent who somehow connects these to a list made by a bookseller (Mal) of eight perfect murders in books (so if you haven't read these and want to read, you may get spoilers), Mal's personal history, lots of twist, his own investigation leaving a trail of dead people and lots of twists and turns. I must say that I didn't see that end coming. Overall, it was a good one. Just not amazing. Might try it once again.

A fast paced thriller but for a few chapters in the middle. The conclusion was quite predictable.

I enjoy a good thriller but this one tried a little too hard to be smart and interesting. There were numerous characters to be a track of, a lot of literary names were thrown around making me wonder if the writer was just showing off their intellect about the books. Overall, not a satisfying story or climax.
