Satyarthi's journey began in the small town of Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, India, where he witnessed first-hand the plight of children forced into hazardous labor. In 1980, at the age of 26, Satyarthi quit his job as an electrical engineer to dedicate himself full-time to the cause of child liberation.
