"Archaeologists have finally solved the mystery surrounding a dagger belonging to King Tutankhamun, dating back 3,400 years.
The new study, published in the journal Meteoritics & Planetary Science, claims that the dagger, found in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, who ruled Egypt in the 14th century BC, came from the Middle East.
A new analysis of the weapon, discovered in the pharaoh's tomb in 1922, reveals that it was forged from a meteorite outside Egypt.
This discovery supports a previous theory that the decorative piece was a gift from abroad to King Tutankhamun's grandfather. The origins and method of manufacture of these artifacts remain one of the great mysteries surrounding Tutankhamun's tomb. It is unusual for such an object to be made of metal, as the ancient Egyptians did not begin smelting iron until 500 years later."
