Career of Evil was the best book in this series for me hands down. As a change of scene from the previous two books, this one is not an investigation that Strike is given to by a client. Drifting away from the usual murder and finding the killer routine, in this book, we have a serial killer. The winner for me is the gripping parallel storytelling that keeps us on the edge of our seats and keeps us guessing throughout. The book provides us with a list of suspects from Strike's past and brilliantly navigates through the past and present of each of them. Narrations that keeps changing from Strike to Robin to Serial Killer had me hooked. The shear menacing nature in which the mind of the serial killer was drawn out by the author was pretty impressive. You feel your skin crawl when the narration shifts to his angle. In this book, we not only get a glimpse of Strike's past but also that of Robin. Their relationship and their personal lives are put to a lot of tests as the whole
