All Systems Red is the first tense science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld and Ex Machina. All Systems Red by Martha Wells begins The Murderbot Diaries, a new science fiction action and adventure series that tackles questions of the ethics of sentient robotics. It appeals to fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans. In a corporate-dominated spacefaring future, planetary missions must be approved and supplied by the Company. Exploratory teams are accompanied by Company-supplied security androids, for their own safety. But in a society where contracts are awarded to the lowest bidder, safety isn't a primary concern. On a distant planet, a team of scientists are conducting surface tests, shadowed by their Company-supplied 'droid - a self-aware SecUnit that has hacked its own governor module, and refers to itself (though never out loud) as "Murderbot." Scornful of humans, all it really wants is to be left alone long enough to figure out who it is. But when a neighboring mission goes dark, it's up to the scientists and their Murderbot to get to the truth.

Quick, sharp sci-fi story. The main protagonist is obviously what makes the story enjoyable. The world building is done rapidly without wasting time getting into unnecessary details. Looking forward to the whole series.

My gosh this was so much fun! The Murderbot's personality was more of a bored human's, than that of a killing AI machine π Watching 35000 hours of entertainment feed after hacking it's own governor module π Then watching serials every time you got even 5 minutes of free time.Audiobook review:- The audio sound was low for the other characters and I had to keep turning the volume up and down everytime Murderbot spoke.- Saying kilos every time distance was mentioned was confusing because I thought weight was going to be mentioned.- Otherwise, the audio and narration were awesome.

I am not a sci-fi person.....so please excuse my whole rating. But since I read it, this book was just soo confusing and complicated for me to understand the plot. I was not also a great fan of the humour included.

Took me a while to understand all things occurring, but then itβs Sci-Fi so yeah. Loved the Murderbot and its rather sassy comments..

One of the perfect travelling book I could ever imagine.I'll come back and re-read it again and again as I do my other favourite books since now this also took place in that list.Hopefully the whole series will take place in that list and I can't wait to listen them out.
