Ravana is the 10 headed demon king of Lanka in the epic of Ramayana. Representing the essence of evil, he fought a series of epic battles against Rama and ultimately lost. Through his devotion and penance to Brahma, Ravana was made invincible. It is said that he was so powerful that he could even interfere with planetary alignments. He is seen mostly as a villain in the epic Ramayana but he was the most knowledgeable of all.
