معروف أن كل صياد يتمني أن تمتلئ شباكه بالسمك، وطبيعي أن تتمني أي سمكة أن يضل شبك الصيادين طريقه إليها. هذه قصة علاقة مختلفة عما هو مألوف بين صياد وسمكة. السمكة الفضية تذهب للصياد بنفسها وتقول له "خذني وضعني في الشبكة". والصياد العجوز يقول لها، "أنا في الحقيقة لا أريد أن أصطادك". فهل السمكة الفضية مجنونة، كما تقل زميلاتها؟ وهل عم عثمان الصياد، كبر وخرف كما يقول عنه الناس.
