Still mourning the death of her husband and young son, Jodie Hanson writes a blog for grieving widows and mothers as a way to deal with her broken heart. She has her life under control until her landlord sells the home she considers her safe haven, and a former colleague offers her a position as a travel blogger.

Needing to move, Jodie accepts Heather Archer's offer to live in a deceased aunt's consignment shop in exchange for disposing of its dusty remnants, which coincides with the start of her new job.
