Born in Boston in 1960, Reed Hastings has always been a restless and entrepreneurial spirit. From an early age, he showed an interest in technology and mathematics, which led him to pursue an undergraduate degree at Bowdoin and a master's degree in computer science at Stanford. After his training, Hastings immersed himself in the world of entrepreneurship, founding Pure Software, a company that became a success in the quality management software market. It was during this period that the spark for Netflix came. In 1997, frustrated with late fees at the video store, Hastings came up with the idea of creating a DVD-by-mail rental service. Netflix was born, which would forever revolutionize the way we consume entertainment.
