Maldives – Hudhuranfushi Island

Scattered in the vastness of the Indian Ocean, a handful of small islands has become one of the most desirable holiday destinations in the world. Some of the islands are no bigger than a boat, others harbour a few dozen people; on others towns have been built… All of them, however, have reached an agreement with the natural elements…

“Towering” only one and a half meters above the sea, these island paradises meet every sunrise with the hope that the sea will be merciful to them today… While each sunset is a moment of gratitude that they are still there.

These tiny specs of land, strewn like beads in the ocean, are the dream destinations of an increasing number of adventurers. Today the islands want to reveal more of themselves to us, to send messages through the beautiful pictures we are going to take, to tell us that everyone are welcome and to implore us to do what is needed so that they can continue to exist when the children of our children set off on a similar journey…
