#1 Don’t worry about making your art make sense to others. The faster your art makes sense, the faster people will lose interest. Let go of being good and start thinking about creating.

#2 The imagination is an endless lens that enlarges life. It’s a tool that animates your own Cambrian ocean of past, present, and potential future forms. It adds what Samuel Taylor Coleridge called gorgeous nonsense to make unreal things real and real things unreal.

#3 You must be willing to break free from other people's definitions of skill or beauty, or be confined by what is supposedly high or low. You must be willing to take small steps. And enjoy those steps. Even when you're making it up, make it your own.

#4 Art’s otherness is its power. It’s so strong that you might wonder if art is using you to reproduce itself. But don’t let this creep you out. Instead, learn to trust it.
