#1 I was a bit of a skinhead in the 1960s. I was always excited to see someone who was famous, because I thought that if I could just be close to them, everything would be fine and all my pain would go away.

#2 I had fantasies about having different parents. I would see people on TV or in films and think, Why can’t I be in their family. I wanted to be with Diana Dors, instead of these parents I had. I didn’t have the worst childhood, but I did have some bad experiences that affected me.

#3 The Sex Pistols couldn’t have existed without John, but it was my shit upbringing that got the ball rolling. I was not showing off, but a fact.
