రామాయణం ఆదికావ్యం గా పిలవబడుతుంది. వాల్మీకి మహర్షి రచించిన ఈ ఆది కావ్యాన్ని రచయిత శ్రీపాద సుబ్రహ్మణ్యశాస్త్రి గారు వాల్మీకి ఏకాండకు ఆకాండ తెలుగులో వచనానువాదం చేశారు. అందులో రెండవది అయోధ్య కాండ. ఇక ఈ అయోధ్య కాండ లో దశరథుడు రామునికి పట్టాభిషేకం చెయ్యాలనుకోడం, కైక తన కోరికలు రెండూ చెప్పడం నుంచి రాముడు అడవికి వెళ్ళడానికంగీకరించడం, భరతుడ్డి తీసుకురావడానికి దూతలు వెళ్ళడం, రాముణ్ణి తీసుకురావడానికి భరతుని ప్రయాణ సన్నాహం, దశరథుని మరణం మొదలగు సందర్భాలని చక్కగా వివరించారు శ్రీపాద వారు. Ramayana is one of the greatest epics, ascribed to the Maharishi Valmiki, narrates the life of Rama, a legendary prince of Ayodhya city in the kingdom of Kosala. The holy scripture was translated into Telugu by Sripada Subrahmanya Sastry. Sripada translated all Khandas (parts) in Telugu in his style. The second one is Ayodhya Khanda. Ayodhya Khanda depicts the story of King Dasaratha deciding to handle the kingdom to Sri Rama. However, Kaikeyi delivers her two wishes which prevent Rama from becoming the King. Rama then decides to leave for the forest and Bharatha pleads with Rama to come back. This part also has the death of Dasaratha.
